Kitchener-Waterlooo Chamber Music Society, located in Waterloo, Ontario, is quite unusual as chamber music presentors and series go. Its concerts are held almost entirely in the home of its founder/president Jan Narveson, a large room in the Narveson home with a capacity of about 85 people. In this space, also equipped with a very fine Steinway piano, the Society has put on well over a thousand concerts since it began using it in 1980. In a typical season there will be 50 to 60 concerts, including artists of world standing, many from the U.S., and many more from various parts of Canada. Also unusual is that the Society is entirely self-financed, from subscriptions, ticket sales, and donations (though the latter are tax-deductible.) See the Society's website: http://www.k-wcms.com or write to kwcms@yahoo.ca for further information.
